It's not goodbye...

closing down mollys den news small business store news winchester

This was a post that I never wanted to write, I am so sad to say that the rumours are true, Molly's Den in Winchester is closing down on the 30th November 😭😭 This is after a long drawn out process with the planning officers at Winchester City Council. If I am honest, I see both sides, Molly's Den started trading with no planning permission for retail, having done this at their other spaces and won retrospective permission.
I agree that this isn't the best way to do these kind of things, but the warehouse had been empty the 2 years previously and is at the end of an industrial estate. There isn't loud noises or housing developments which could be affected and it even has its own car park!!

This place has been truly amazing, helping hundreds of traders get their small businesses off the ground and customers could find something unique, not found on the high street and help an independent business. For me, it is where my business started, came of age and then learnt to stand on its own two feet. Its been 2 years of fast learning but I would not have changed it, I have also gotten to meet so many lovely traders, customers and staff who I am going to miss, oh and that cafe.... many a slice of cake I have had upstairs!
I am sure that Winchester Council have made the decision understanding how many peoples livelihoods are now at risk. I have known that this outcome has been on the cards since January and it has been decided that Molly's Den should close.
I will be trading there until the 27th November, it would be till the 30th but we are on holiday and that's not something that I am going to move ;)

However, do not worry! I will be trading from Molly's den in Salisbury as soon as it opens, hopefully mid to the end of November, with many of the other traders from Winchester. Eliza Rose will also continue online, both on the website and on Etsy.

Thank you for all of your support at Winchester, buying furniture, visiting or just messaging me to say that you visited. I am truly sad to see it close 😭😭 I hope that you will continue to support both Eliza Rose and me as we find a new path 💕
