Decorative Vintage Styling Workshop

instagram interior design Vintage workshop

A few months ago on Instagram (my favourite place to hang out!) I came across Katie (@thevintagehousethatcould) and Tamsyn (@tamsynmorgans). Katie has a beautiful account full of gorgeous flowers styled with vintage finds, whilst Tamsyn is an interiors blogger and stylist whose account was equally gorgeous! Now, I have been trying to improve my styling and photography for awhile now and when they joined forces to run a Decorative Vintage Styling Workshop, I knew I had to go! There was a little thing of it being in Norwich... I live in Southampton....

But whats a small thing like a 3 hour drive?! I mean its vintage styling!! Of course I could have tried to find something closer to home, but to be honest there is not much like this workshop down south and at £45 it wasn't too expensive. I persuaded my good friend Hayley who has just started up her own small business (@1989lovehome) to come with me, we pretty much talked the entire 3 hour journey, however I wouldn't rate her map reading skills as we did go round the centre of Norwich 3 or 4 times trying to find the car park 😂😂😂 The workshop was held in a cute venue, Studio 20 which matched Katie and Tamsyn's vintage style.

We turned up late so missed the introductions but everyone was super friendly and it was straight down to some playing around with the vintage props, backdrops (from Capture by Lucy which I bought after the workshop as they were amazing) and flowers which were all provided.

It was really inspiring to be around other Instagrammers as its a job I pretty much do alone every day with no one else to talk to about it. Just seeing how differently everyone works and styles, made me work harder to put things together and think about how they would look in a photo.

There was a break for an afternoon tea, very welcome as we had left the house at 6am and there was a chance to look through the little goodie bag of vintage and floral papers that we were given. Afterwards we discussed how to get the most out of Instagram, hashtags and how to generate good content, which is something that I have definitely been trying to focus on! We were also showed how to style 2 types of space, a spring theme and a more rustic style, Tamsyn is so talented at throwing things together!

At the end of the workshop we got to style the flowers into a cute little posy in a jam jar to take away. You can check out everyone's amazing photos from the day on Instagram with the hashtag #decorativevintagestyling, seriously inspiring stuff! Katie and Tamsyn will be running more workshops in the future so make sure you check out their websites HERE and HERE

After we said goodbye, we went back to our amazing Airbnb which I had found. It honestly could not have been more perfect for us as it was full to bursting with painted furniture and amazing styling.

Our hosts had put some really special touches in the house, a blackboard next to the kitchen where we could leave them a message and wine in the fridge!

I would love to say that Hayley and I had a crazy wild night, clubbing till dawn as we spent it away from our kids and hubbies but instead, we ate ice cream in our PJs in front of the telly 😂

So, if you live near Derby and are thinking of attending, I would highly recommend it! Its also made me think that we should have some Instagrammer meet ups in Hampshire, so if anyone is keen, let me know!!
